This blog is not only my personal soapbox, it's my public face. Folks who read what I post here may or may not thereafter buy my books. Consequently, these days I try to avoid writing about stuff that is likely to be controversial. Call it the chilling effect of capitalism; I can say what I want if and only if I'm willing t (Read More)

Medicine is a multi-billion dollar per year business. Its practitioners are not going to fade quietly into the background as reforms are proposed and implemented. They are going to go kicking and screaming; spewing all sorts of lies and half-truths to summon the mindless masses to their cause.

On the internet, data lives forever. Once you post something to the web, you see, you simply can't take it back. Many people have had to learn this lesson the hard way, unfortunately, after discovering that the "delete" button doesn't really work to delete something from the internet as a whole. The embarrassing missive liv (Read More)
: Another solution in search of a problem. If people are so concerned about what they write and fret over future review, perhaps they need to think twice before sending it in the first place. Thankfully, this is unlikely to ever catch on in the wider scope of things.
I can guarantee you one thing, I will never willingly install anything like this. If it is forced upon me, I will simply use cut and paste to record any messages I have been required to decrypt and place them in a text file for future reference. I might even be inclined to repost it to an open forum after the expiration date.

: Frankly, I can't appreciate all of the hubbub. From what I can tell, the statement "Jacko pulled a similar stunt when he was getting ready for his big HBO special in '95 when he 'collapsed' at rehearsal."
Given the pending comeback tour, I think it was not unwarranted to at least give some consideration to the prospect of this incident being another publicity stunt.
