The Times Labs blog takes a hard look at the data on music sales and live performances and concludes that while the labels' profits might be falling, artists are taking in more money, thanks to the booming growth of live shows. The Times says that they'd like more granular data about who's making all the money from concerts (Read More)

You take the red pill and you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes. Here's an interesting story. Apparently a bunch of workers at a call center contracted by the McCain campaign to make calls slamming Obama have walked off the job in protest:Some three dozen workers at a telemarketing call center in Indiana walked off the job rather than read an incendiary McCain campaign script attacking B (Read More)

As a final word of warning, proceed cautiously with any polls that were in the field last night. Friday nights are difficult enough to poll, and holidays are difficult enough to poll, but when a Friday night coincides with a holiday (in this case, Halloween), getting an appropriate sample is all but impossible. : This is beginning to look like a five-state election. Those states are Virginia, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Nevada. Essentially all relevant electoral scenarios involve some combination of these five states.
I should caution that by far the most likely scenario is that Obama wins some relatively decisive victory of anywhere from 3-12 points in the popular vote. If Obama wins the popular vote by anything in this range, he will find plenty of blue territory, accumulating somewhere between 300-400 electoral votes. The electoral math will matter very little.

: It's utter (and long discredited) disinformation, chiefly led by right-wing talkshow hosts who have no scruples about making completely unfounded assertions for ratings. (I know - I used to work with Michael Savage.)
Do you trust the non-partisan factcheck.org? http://tr.im/pq7 or PolitiFact http://tr.im/pq9 ? They debunked this b.s. back in June.
: @bwana Ummm... seal and signature are on the BACK SIDE of the birth certificate original, and so therefore don't appear in a scanned version as provided. Actual certificate IS signed and sealed per confirmation of the officials in Hawaii. Don't spread misinformation.
: @calgaryguru You just confirmed what I said. Do you know how easy it is to get a copy of a birth certificate for purposes like this? I can't get on a cruise ship without an _original_ copy of my birth certificate and the Obama camp provides a photocopy for proof of citizenship? And answer me this, why FREEZE the records until AFTER the election? Come on man. All I'm saying is, if it's not an issue, just provide valid proof and everyone will shut up. If you leave room for speculation, there will be speculation.
