Oct 12, 2008

Submitted by Tabrez: InfoWorld's ace reporter Paul Krill was the first to spot a new project from Microsoft Office Labs and Microsoft developer Mike Wasserman that could bring those next-generation UIs one step closer. Begun by Wasserman as a college project, the Touchless SDK is a set of .Net components that can be used to simulate the gestura (Read More)

Threadsafe Java Servlets : Dragons in the Algorithm
Oct 12, 2008

Submitted by Tabrez: The advent of AJAX and rich internet applications has changed all that. Modern websites don’t consist of a series of pages and forms, they consist of an interactive environment where the user modifies controls which communicate with the server. Think of Yahoo Mail, Google Maps, or NetVibes. And that means that the threading (Read More)

Do you WiFi (on your phone)?
Oct 09, 2008

Submitted by Bwana from Google Reader: The official announcement of the Blackberry Storm for the Verizon and Vodafone networks confirmed the phone's lack of WiFi.  This has some folks condemning RIM's decision to exclude WiFi as a connectivity option on the phone with some even saying it's a deal-breaker.  This got me to thinking about WiFi on phones (Read More)

: I love the wifi on my blackberry curve. T-Mobile lets you make calls over wifi in addition to using the wifi for data. It can be a great cost saver for those without unlimited plans who make the bulk of their calls from home or the office (where they have wifi connections)

Hey Vendors, Give Us Real Scripting Languages
Oct 10, 2008

Submitted by Tabrez from Delicious: Most test tools come bundled with vendor-specific scripting languages that I call vendorscripts. They are hard to learn, weakly implemented, and most important, they discourage collaboration between testers and developers. Testers deserve full-featured, standardized languages for their test development. Here’s why. (Read More)

Are all stateful Web applications broken?
Oct 10, 2008

Submitted by Tabrez: While there are many Web frameworks in the Java™ ecosystem, they all are based, directly or indirectly, on the Servlets infrastructure.
