Summary
Ning shut down access to all WidgetLaboratory add-ons without giving advance notice to end users.

Nice post Daniel...but the picture atop of the post infers that ning.com what shut down...which it never was... to my knowledge.

That screenshot shows widgetlaboratory.ning.com... this was WL's site on Ning that was shut down by Ning along with the termination of their widgets.

Ning also claims that WL broke Ning in Internet Explorer for all WL users at one point, so that's sort of a takedown as well.
