Nov. 8: Samajwadi Party leaders Mulayam Singh Yadav and Amar Singh has asked UP governor B.L. Joshi to recommend a CBI inquiry against UP chief minister Mayawati and her officials to probe charges of land grabbing, intimidation and extortion.
Talking to reporters here on Sunday, the two SP leaders said that Ms Mayawati had now turned into a land mafia and was blatantly taking government bungalows into her possession for personal use.
The two leaders presented Sunil Singh, a member of the UP legislative council and son of former minister Rajendra Singh, who claimed that efforts were on to force him to part with his private bungalow in the Mall Avenue locality.
"My bungalow, unfortunately, is located adjacent to Ms Mayawati’s bungalow in Mall Avenue and I am being threatened/ pressurised to move out of it," he said.
Mr Sunil Singh, at the press conference, also played portions of his taped conversation with two top officials in the chief minister’s secretariat who could be heard persuading him to toe the line.
