Summary
In the United Kingdom,The other day I saw a report saying that people off sick are costing employers £1.5 billion per annum. Although I agree that balancing work and play is definitely essential in this competitive working environment and the mental well being of employees is paramount, I believe that there are some people who are using this as a tool to show their displeasure with their employers or even to get some time off to pursue their own activities. This is not often found in China and of course there are reasons for that, as China is not yet well developed and her laws are different from the west.

Western management philosophy does not encourage fault finding and this I consider to be rational. In the Chinese working culture and the culture in which I was brought up, we do not get praise even if they have done something exceptionally well, but if we do not get criticism or negative comments from our parent or our superiors, we know that we are doing fine.
