Two interesting news items concerning the iPhone’s possible future came up today, first a new Apple patent appeared that integrates a so called Grab & Go function. It would to let you easily obtain on your device content from other Grab & Go enabled devices, is this the integrated sync?
The second news comes from 9to5 mac, supposedly Apple would be experimenting with RFID on it’s new model. Here is what they heard from Einar Rosenberg at Near Field Technology :
A highly reliable source has informed me that Apple has built some prototypes of the next gen iPhone with an RFID reader built in and they have seen it in action.
So its not full NFC but its a start for real service discovery and I’m told that the reaction was very positive that we can expect this in the next gen iPhone.
The main rumored idea is that the purpose would be to allow your iPhone to know when it’s in the proximity of compatible devices, this to allow better networking or sync. Somehow I am tempted to think those two news items have something to do with each other.
