Digg Launches Its Own Version of Trending Topics

Summary

It seems like everyone wants to steal a page from Twitter and their Trending Topics. Not too long ago we saw YouTube introduce trending topics, and today Digg is announcing their very own version of the concept too.

Dubbed Digg Trends, the new experimental feature launches today and will be a prominent element of the homepage experience. A trending story will be called out at the top of the page for 10 minutes at a time, with a timer counting down the minutes and seconds.

The trending story will be selected based on a high volume of diggs, comments, favorites, shares and activity, and users can then vote by digging or burying the story to determine its popularity. If the story gets enough diggs in the allotted time period it will stay on the homepage, if not users will be able to see that the trend failed.
