Here at Mashable, we talk a lot about the social media tools that have changed the face of communication: Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and a host of others. They’ve made it easier to communicate with our friends, family, and those we admire.
But that’s the thing: social media has never been about the tools we use to communicate. Instead, it’s always been about the people that we communicate with every single day. Without people, there are no tweets. Without people, there is no point to using Facebook. Without people, YouTube would have no viewers, no commenters, and no videos.
Perhaps that’s why this year’s Open Web Awards has eight different categories that honor the people that have made social media the phenomenon it is today. We’re asking you to nominate your favorite bloggers, musicians, celebrities, inspiring individuals, and others that have caught your attention by making a significant impact in the social media space.
