My patient parents allowed me to have Open House for my friends when I was about 15. I coordinated it by telephone. I called it the Social Network™ although I made the mistake of not telling anyone else.
We used to swap LPs, news, tips about which books to read and business opportunities. I had a Saturday morning business cleaning the **** and other unsavoury parts of a wholesale meat depot in Slough. Through my Social Networking™ I got a much better job working on the car parks in Windsor, then teaching English to foreign students in the holidays. Now that was a good job. Being the teacher, I was the link man to loads of cute French and German girls which made me very popular with the local lads and meant I never had to buy a beer.
