"Emmo" was one of the early Aussie invasion, not as visible in
recent years but still in fine fettle, and long relocated to
California. He also spends part of the summer in Gstaad, Switzerland,
where he runs a tennis clinic.
He holds 12 Grand Slam singles titles (and was runner-up another
three times). He also has 16 Grand Slam doubles titles, winning all
four at least three times.
You know this is one record (the singles and doubles accomplishments) that will never, ever be broken.
He went 34-4 in Davis Cup from 1959 to 1967 (21-2 in singles)
including five ties in 1964 alone – starting with the first one against
Canada, at the Mount Royal Club in July.
