Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey underwent a public session with a psychoanalyst in honor of the Rubin Museum of Art’s exhibition of Carl Jung’s “Red Book,” a previously unpublished work that discloses the renowned psychologist’s own struggles with his subconscious.
Mr. Dorsey took the stage with psychoanalyst Douglas Tompkins, who asked him to do a so-called free association based on an illustration from Mr. Jung’s book.

After the session, The Wall Street Journal decided to do a little free-association exercise of its own with Mr. Dorsey. As it turns out, the word “Bing” does not lead him to think about search engines, but rather of a friend of his named Bing (possibly to Microsoft’s disappointment).
When it comes to Google, he was tight-lipped and simply said, “search.” When prompted for a little more association, he added, “I think of information coming to me in a way that’s very easy to consume. It’s one of the first places I go to when I want to find something.”
