No Flash on your iPhone? Adobe slams Apple

Summary

Adobe has taken its fight with Apple over iPhone Flash support directly to the phone’s users with a new message on their download pages. Read on to find out why Apple’s Steve Jobs will be fuming…

Apple bosses have been unconvinced about the effectiveness of Flash on mobiles, hence no support on the iPhone. But it seems Adobe is becoming seriously frustrated with this stance.

As we reported last month, the iPhone is the only smartphone left without Flash support. Now Adobe is letting users know that the omission is not its fault.

Point your iPhone or iPod Touch at get.adobe.com/flashplayer and you’ll get this rather passive aggressive message:

“Flash Player not available for your device. Apple restricts use of technologies required by products like Flash Player. Until Apple eliminates these restrictions, Adobe cannot provide Flash Player for the iPhone or iPod.”

Will this approach help Adobe to persuade Steve Jobs to change his mind or will it just make him even more stubborn? Sadly, we think it could well be the second.
