LUCKNOW: Kartik Purnima or the full moon day of the Hindu month of Kartik will fall on Monday. The day formally puts an end to the celebrations
in the name of Diwali while marking the commencement of the month long Ganga snan fair organised by locals in the city. Arrangements have been made to facilitate Kartik snan in Gomti. Kartik snan or immersing oneself in any river is said to be of great importance on this day. The reason, it is believed, is that all sins wash away through this ritual.
When men will be busy with the snan, women will offer prayers to Tulsi, asking the gods to shower their blessings on them. Lord Satyanarayan is also worshipped on this day when he wakes up from his long sleep. This marks the beginning of auspicious days and the advent of celebrations like marriages and other functions.
