Writing: Hotel room, 3pm, steaming music off the hotel laptop!
This morning i felt a bit more alive and ready for walking. It was 31 degrees so it was definately a shorts and sandals day. With our rough guide book in hand we headed for the cathedral, La Giralda, in the old city.
It was massive, covering 11,520 sq metres, our pictures do not do it justice. It is the largest gothic church in the world. As we strolled to the Alcazar we were attacked by fortune tellers. One woman grabbed by arm and started babbling in spanish and trying to put leaves in my hand. As I tried to walk away she demanded money, pointing to coins in her hand. I walked swiftly away at the first chance that I got.
Behind Alcazar, which is a large palace, there is a maze of traditional, narrow streets and gardens with fountains. It was tranquil and well worth a visit (The Santa Cruz District).
