It was seeing Andrew's post about the mindmap of the Question Time, that made me wonder just how acceptable MMs are to other people as a document?
On the train today, I was using a MM to build up the content of an article - but I wouldn't dream of using it to give to people - only as a tool for myself.
In the past, I have tried creating a couple of wall charts to present a topic but these were severely limited by the aesthetic quality of MMn or iMM and I vowed that another time I would hand-draw them instead.
I've never really got to grips with the use of either product to do presentations - getting the sequence right proved too much trouble and the challenge of navigating to and fro.
I wrote a couple of books using MMs as a tool to build the content of each chapter, and then incorporated them as summaries of the chapters, though I had to recreate them using Power Point as a drawing tool so I could give the publisher a suitable quality image.
