Have you heard of OpenID? It’s a simpler, unified sign-on technology that allows you to use one login at a variety of different websites. In fact, you probably already have an OpenID login without realizing it.
I just added the excellent OpenID plugin to my blog here both for myself (I log in via OpenID now) but also for those wishing to comment on posts. What’s the benefit for you in logging in with an OpenID to comment? No comment moderation for one. If you have an OpenID, I figure you aren’t a spammer.
Like I said, you probably already have an OpenID without realizing it. If you have a Yahoo!, Flickr, Wordpress.com, MySpace, LiveJournal, or even an AOL account then you have an OpenID. If you don’t have one of those or you want to create an OpenID account not tied to one of those services, then I recommend VeriSign’s Personal Identity Portal (PIP) OpenID service. It’s simple to create an OpenID with VeriSign, and considering their position as the established leading in online security, you can trust that your personal in
