Über seinen Newsletter hatten ddie Veranstalter der Frankfurter Buchmesse gefragt, welche Kommunikationswege die Medienprofis derzeit nutzen, ob sie von Social Media Gebrauch machen und falls ja, welchen Einfluss das auf ihre Arbeitsweise hat. 580 Personen aus der Buch- und Medienbranche haben geantwortet. Hier einige Ergebnisse:

67 % der Teilnehmer an der Umfrage gaben an, Social Media sowohl bei der Arbeit als auch außerhalb der Arbeitszeiten zur Kommunikation zu nutzen
40 % sind der Meinung, Social Media seien derzeit für die Buchbranche nicht sehr wichtig
20 % gehen davon aus, dass Social Networking Sites/Social Media Services in den nächsten 2 bis drei Jahre sehr wichtig werden wird

67 % nutzen geschäftlich oder privat mind. eine Social Networking Sites oder einen Social Media Services

23 % der deutschsprachigen (und 5 % der englischsprachigen) Teilnehmer nutzen XING
14 % der deutschsprachigen (und 25 % der englischsprachigen) Teilnehmer nutzen Facebook
13 % aller Teilnehmer nutzen YouTube
11 % aller Teilnehmer nutzen Twitter
