I'd be much more likely to vote again for an elected official if I knew what he or she was up to. Twitter is a great way to do this, and is a compliment to any communications plan. Do elected officials have communications plans? I kind of don't think they all do. They should.
I have a UK Member of Parliment as one of my twitter friends. He found my artwork online and we became friends when he contacted me. We then found out that both of us are on twitter. He uses it to broadcast what he is working on.
My congressman, @ShaysCongress , is supposedly Twittering. A friend asked him about it at an appearance over the weekend and he had no idea what they were talking about. Clearly a staffer. Clearly bogus.
You would think that they'd tell the Congressman that they're tweeting in his name. Although...I do know of someone who's captured a partisan type name and he's on the other side. I'm in DC.
I've been following Culbertson for a few weeks ago and I'm really impressed by his use of the medium, and I am by no means a Republican. :) It's good to see capitol hill opening up, slowly but surely.
