Summary

Earlier this year, Pizza Hut received a lot of buzz when it announced it was hiring for a “Twintern” – a summer intern that would be responsible for maintaining the company’s presence on Twitter and other social media sites.

This week, the selected Twintern, Alexis Robinson, reported to work, and her first move is to offer up a promo of KFC proportions: free food for everyone that follows the company on Twitter or becomes a fan on Facebook.

KFC, which like Pizza Hut is owned by YUM Brands, somewhat infamously offered free meals earlier this year through a promotion on Oprah. Perhaps having learned some lessons from that campaign, Pizza Hut’s program come with a few caveats as the company attempts to grow its social media presence.

The first caveat is that you’ll need to either be following Pizza Hut on either Twitter or Facebook.
