In the last post, I asked a question: “How would you do things differently if the team that is serving you this Sunday might not be around the following weekend?” I asked you to put yourself in the place of recruiting volunteers every week.
This time, I want to challenge you to adopt the mindset of treating your volunteers as if you need to earn them back every week - because you do!
How would you be a better leader if you had to recruit every volunteer in your team every week? Would you spend as much time doing stuff, or would you spend time building relationships with your team? Would you make your team’s operations as simple as possible to enable new team members to be rapidly trained?
I think many ministry leaders get complacent. They expect the same volunteers to return every week, to do the same thing they did last week. Why should they? There are lots of opportunities for them to serve within your church or elsewhere. So, why your team?
