OK you have or are about to set up a blog and wonder how to take it from there. Just having a blog or a web site is not going to do you any good if nobody knows about it. Even if your blog is the best, there is no secret, if you have no visitors, if nobody reads it, then it is not worth the effort. When you spend time and energy on your postings, I am sure you want someone to read it!
This is exactly what I tell new people in my primary company when they start a blog. Just because you have a website does not mean that anyone is going to find you. Blogs are great for sharing helpful content and I prefer a blog as my central hub. You bring up a great point to seek out how to market your blog and then to take the time to act on what you learn.
So many people believe the hype out there of earning thousands in a matter of weeks, it's no wonder that we believe we can do the same. I personally know and think that e-marketing is harder than opening a shop - at least there you have 'real people' that you can see.
There is certainly money to be made, you are right it's all a learning curve and you have to treat your blogging as part of branding yourself, promoting yourself and your business.
Once you have branded yourself successfully and people have learned to like, know and trust you, word of mouth works the same as it does in the 'real' world, your business grows and money is made.
Time, patience, perserverance are the keys, being ready to change direction, move your goal posts not your goals when things that you try don't appear to be working.
Don't give up, success is at your fingertips and a click of the mouse :-)
These are great resources to help those just starting out with a blog on how to market themselves. So many people are fooled with gimmicky emails claiming they can learn to make tens of thousands online. They are never given the truth that it takes work, research and finding your groove. The fun thing about online marketing is that it is always changing so you will never get bored.
e-marketing can help us know how our business is seen and this then can be used to market to others. people face to face don't speak their minds. this work comes in slow at once but as you grow so it does. until you get critical mass
Having the skills before getting started is a point far too under emphasized. Doubtless if more wannabe entrepreneurs did themselves this one favor. then the failure rate would drop.
