I gotta admit that Kent Newsome has come up with the best single line description of Twitter yet - “it often feels like a mashup of Deepak Chopra and P.T. Barnum"


That was how he started out his post earlier today lamenting how Twitter seems to have become the spawning ground of endless “MLM, get rich quick and grow your follower count posts” and for the most part I have to agree with him. The number of follower requests that I have been getting from people wanting to show me some of the newest sex tricks, some of the best SEO secrets around (would they still be a secret then?) or how to achieve fame and fortune as a social media guru is ridiculous.


It’s gotten to the point that I almost don’t even look at the follower requests because they are nothing but a waste of time – and energy. When you click through to check out their profiles and to see what kind of things they are posting it for the most part is nothing more than pages full of sales pitches and questionable links.
