Twitter Blooper? Confess!

Summary

I just came within one click of a highly embarrassing Twitter blooper. It’s so easily done: miss out the “d” (for Direct Message) at the front of a supposedly private Tweet and BOOM! a few thousand followers get a glimpse of your backchannel chats.

With Twitterers increasingly using Twitter DMs to discuss everything from business deals to meetup plans, Twitter messaging has “fire hazard” written all over it.

Spellcheckers, too, have some interesting consequences: according to @bookjewel, some Nokia phones correct “plate” to “slave”…as in “Party: bring slave’”. And don’t get me started on those drunken Tweets and unintentional innuendos.

Time then, to confess: if you have a good Twitter blooper story, comment here or simply put the term “twitterblooper” in a Tweet - the latest Twitters with that term are viewable in the widget below. And if you’d like to keep your confession anonymous, feel free to enter your Twitter blooper in SecretTweet, the anonymous Twittering service (remember to still use the term “Twitterblooper” so we can find it!)
