Summary
Fluoride may now be added to foods manufactured and supplied in Europe. It’s been classified as a harmless supplement, according to Europe’s highest authority on food standards.

The decision means that food manufacturers can include sodium monofluorophosphate in their products. This is the common form of fluoride found in toothpaste and mouth washes.

It worries me all the additives that are added to our food. Where will it end?

Have you seen pictures of teeth with Flourosis? That's caused by too much Flouride. I'm concerned that if people have both water and food with Flouride in it, that we'll start seeing some negative effects of too much Flouride.

The only judge of supplements is your body, and your body does not consider fluoride a supplement. It's not a vitamin, mineral, or amino acid. It is absolutely not a nutrient. Which means when it enters your body, it sets your immune system to work combatting it. Does that sound harmless?

If fluoride is added to water for the sole purpose of preventing tooth decay, then why add it to food?

I'm amazed at the flippant way these things are allowed and then years later we have a "review" to see what went wrong!

The thing that bothers me the most about stories like this is that there always seems to be a lack of easy to absorb clinical evidence showing clear results. I am sure that tests have been conducted but as with so many of these things as soon as the results come out one group or the other belittles them and so the circle starts over.

I don't suppose anyone can link to some independent and widespread trials/results?

It's bad enough that most of the nutrients are missing from our food. But to replace them with chemicals, in the name of science seems ridiculous.

I don't understand why anyone would want to put flouride in food. It was my understanding that too much flouride is bad for your health. That is why you should not swallow toothpaste and mouthwash. As it is, schools do flouride treatments on children along with their dentist. Now food??? Yuck!

I have to say that this is outrageous! Fluoride is nothing more than rat poison! First they add it to the water and now to food. Good old EU for wanting to make the citizens sick so they can sell us more pills that we don't need.

This is disturbing. I thought Europe was advanced in healthful products next to the US. It just goes to show you, no matter where food comes from you must read the label. Better to grow your own and be a good cook.
