Number 4 makes a lot of sense to me. One service for reading habits and one for the real bookmark archive. Of course all shared via FriendFeed, microblogging and on the blog :-)
A great post - some of thes I do by default, others are good solid advice.. The one I disagree with is #6. Surely Twitpic is about the 'now' not later. Imagine you were the guy who took the Hudson picture on twitpic, it was the moment that was relevant, not the convenience. I appreciate you do not - unless absolutely necesscary, but sharing a pic is often better with no words.... just my 2c.
This is why the social media bubble is going to bust. As more and more people realize that there is little fruit in laborious social media initiatives.
I don't think that makes social media a bubble destined to burst. The hype gets replaced with greater understanding and the best tools survive and become part of our mainstream marketing tools.
@charlesheflin If I didn't know better, I might think you're trying to start a heated debate... hmmm let's see how this works out, should be interesting.
@Kendra - Let me phrase this another way... As people "hone in on" the initiatives that work they will drop other networks in favor of the ones with the most exposure/pull (for them) ... this will cause a washout of all the less popular networks all the way down to smaller niche networks. This is the bubble that will burst... Only the strong will survive.
There will be a mass exodus... As an example, I predict that there will be a mass Twitter exodus as more and more people begin to realize that MOST people could care less what you're doing right now. As more and more people realize that Twitter (for example) is not as productive as other initiatives, there will be an exodus, a deflation, a bubble bust.
Sorry for not being more clear about that before. Social media is all about content syndication... What (specific) tools/networks help you place your message in front of as many people (in your target audience) as possible and then interact with those people (if you want to)?
