Leading VoIP service Skype goes from strength to strength, with revenues rising by 26 per cent last quarter. Yet despite this success, parent company eBay is rumoured to be looking to offload its cash-cow to none other than Google.
@jasongoldberg @thomaspower @andycoote A nice thought - but it seems anti-trust/anti-competition folks have all gone into hiding since the 'credit crunch'. Give LTSB as an example here, they have been looking to merge/buy another bank for a while if the rumours were correct - and until now they would always have been stopped. But as soon as the banking crisis emerged, everyone seems to have forgotten that and called it a rescue instead. Im sure the same is true in the US...
@nigelwalsh anti-trust with Obama in power no way, Google can buy skype, twitter, friendfeed and facebook without any hassle. Obama wants to ignite dotcom 3.0 with a nice green tinge.
@thomaspower sorry, that was my point - you can have them buy yahoo and MS Search today and no-one would blink an eyelid - your right - we would celebrate a lower carbon footprint.
