When you gather people together in any sort of group, a social structure most always arises. Leadership is something that comes natural to some, and others have it thrust upon them.
A small group may never appoint official leadership but receive leadership in some form from one, two, or a few. Unofficially or not,: leadership roles are filled.

As I began to write this post, I thought about several things. First, my assumption was that leaders definitely exist in social networks. Next, I believe leaders have certain responsibilities within the social setting. I have an expectation for a leader. Is this unrealistic or just simply unfair? These are some the things I want to discuss.
Do leaders exist in social networks?
Large scale social networks are filled with many groups, cliques, and small pockets of users. The users may have affiliation with each other via real life or only onl

As Social Network Leaders (Ecademy) Penny Power and I find there is tremendous responsibility that goes with the territory particularly in keeping members safe from crazy folk and helping members feel warm and loved over long periods. Ecademy begun February 1998 and has half a million users. No VC privately funded through subscriptions.
Leaders have a responsibility to inform. Whether it's through the web or on the ground, in our every day lives. Sharing information is what a leader does consistently without asking for anything in return. @marc1919 is the best information source for who to call in Houston when you need any kind of service. When I want news on up & coming people in the social web-o-sphere, I go to @ericaogrady, and for non-profits, I go to @edschipul and his team of schipulites. Leading in this space is effective when choosing a speciality, being yourself and promoting information about, here it is.......others.....
The Leader of the social Network Sta.rtupbiz, Natalie is in the habit of banning members simply for networking and inviting their Friends from her Network to another Network like Startupspace.....It has happened to many members and I feel it is very sad and wrong as it takes away the freedom to simply network. Is this good leadership? or does she have a right to do that as a leader of that Network? Does anyone know? Thanks!

Great way to open the discussion.
I think that leadership comes naturally to some and has to be an acquired skill to others. I fall in the second category. I am passionate about what I do, feel that there is the built-in ability to empower others and it gave me the strength to build myself up as an example to others. To show it is possible to acquire skills if one chooses to do so.
I have found that there are some in our community that step right up and take the lead, wanting to be of service to others and it seems to fill a need on a personal level to do so. There are others that simply do not see the same picture.
A sense of humor is part of the art of leadership, of getting along with people, of getting things done.
Thank you for Your comment. :- ) Natalie obviously has to learn and I'm sure she will...someday! Yes! We have a sense of humour as we are in alot of other Networking Sites and doing Great!
