My vote goes to @fredwilson. He's one of the few people I subscribe to on Twitter via SMS as I always find his tweets insightful and thoughtful on all things VC, web 2.0, startup, twitter, the financial markets, music, and nyc.
It's hard to say. I'd give a vote for the entire Twitterverse. If pressed, it might be someone like @chrisbrogan or @jasoncalacanis (except he didn't give me his old Macbook Air when the new ones came out) or @jeffcutler ... but who's he? In retrospect, the beauty of Twitter is that you get to connect with the people who you choose to learn from and be influenced by. So the Twitterer of the Year is moot when approached from a global perspective.
That's because Chris is real, knows the space, thinks before he tweets, connects with people without looking for an angle, and is pretty darn smart too.
I would not put me on the Twitter list. I use Twitter mostly for broadcasting my blog posts, and I know it. I am better on FriendFeed and Socialmedian.
I'd vote @scobleizer first even though he has not noticed me yet :). I wish this list were a little bit longer! I'd add @chrisbrogan @guykawasaki @jasongoldberg @problogger
Shouldn't we also add this as the year of @BarackObama ? Wasn't that a major reason for a lot of the increased popularity of Twitter? He may not have been my favourite to follow but definitely needs to be on an end of year Twitter list in some capacity.
