There are benefits to getting more Twitter followers, so with that thought in mind, I’m going to tell you about the things that will help you build your own Twitter following. I’ll tell you about some things that seem to work and some that don’t work: short term or long term. Let me be perfectly clear: I am not writing this article for you to use Twitter to help you feed a fragile ego, expand your mailing list, build a fan club, sell products, become a top Digger, or sway political opinion to the exclusion of everything else. However, if you are trying to do this then you might see some reasons here why you are failing to attract followers.
This is a good article because it is not the typical approach to how to use Twitter and get followers. This article highlights good and not so good behaviors that will impact whether people decide to follow you or not.
The way I see it, you need to be niched on Twitter, kinda. To make a name for yourself. Especially when there are no "rooms" in Twitter (?). If you use Twitter for daily life snippets and lifestreaming, I don't know if aiming for more followers would matter at all. And I can't see why my tweets would be of interest to someone else either :)
