Do you know something the rest of us don't? ;) In terms of numbers of users, Plurk would be next on the list, with Pownce following that. Neither matches Twitter very closely though. For a very Twitter-like experience, I'd suggest Identica.
@imjustcreative Identica actually has some good tie-ins with Twitter as well, like importing your friends, etc. I'd definitely recommend checking it out.
@svartling I can't make my mind up about ReJaw. It's on one hand really cool, love the name, like the interface, but something doesn't sit right with me about it.
Have you got the ReJaw Radar Air App? Here's my Rejaw credentials then whilst we are at it : http://rejaw.com/imjustcreative
@accman @svartling @imjustcreative @imjustcreative @johngrinde @johngrinde @svartling I would bet Twitter will be around in some form for a long long time even if gobbled up by a google, microsoft, facebook, etc., and that it will be very hard for imitators to take hold given the powerful network effects.
Im more thinking about downtimes really, the unpredictable nature. As you said, it grows and grows...
For seomthing that so many people rely on for constant communication would do not harm and would be quite logical to have a common back-up in these down times. This would mean kinda agreeing within your own communities and adding each other sooner rather than later.
So its more a preventative measure, follow people now then you are more likely to be able to switch over and not loose much conversation.
Even it Twitter stalls for a few hours or an afternoon, which it did do last week, even that can cause difficulties. However, if everyone had one common back-up app, moving over would have been pretty painless.
