SocialMedian was barely a thought for people back in February, but it has gained a solid following in the 9 months of its existence. Many people would ask why this startup has gained any traction. It is yet another social news site with voting and commenting. Did we really need another? Given the amount of traffic that socialmedian is getting, it is obvious that they are onto something.
With this in mind, I figured it was time to chat with SocialMedian Founder and CEO Jason Goldberg and find out if things were actually as good as they sounded. Read the full article
@robdiana Great job. The microsite concept is really going to help bring attention to socialmedian. The short ramp up time in which one can be created, should allow almost any event to be covered. As the microsites topics begin diversifying,so will the userbase. The new traffic is very noticeably. I'll clip a story with one existing clip, and by the time the page refreshes there are three or four more. It's not unusual to see a story receive upwards of 100 clips recently. I'm sure this will seem like a small number very soon!
@michaelfidler I just wrote the article, Jason and the SM team did all the work :) The micro-site idea is going to be a killer feature long term. The election site was just the tip of the iceberg I think.
@robdiana I totally agree, and @jasongoldberg and the entire Truesparrow team deserve a hand for what they have accomplished in such a short time. Congratulations to all of you!
@orchid8 @billso @michaelfidler @robdiana Thanks everyone. I continue to believe it's all about one user at a time. Bit by bit by working with you and listening to you we just might get somewhere!
I discovered socialmedian after Jason was interviewed on net@nite by Amber Mac and Leo Laporte. since I have to say I now visit the site every day and spend quite a bit of time here.
Yep yep, as a student I grew to love getting hot off the oven news from SocialMedian for discussions and writing papers. Glad I found this place! Good Job!
SM as a concept is very interesting :) as a user i have a set of news sites i visit on a regular basis. with SM i get to read a lot of stuff I would not otherwise.
@jasongoldberg Seriously great job. You and the S|M team have made me feel like a part of a fantastic, intellectually-stimulating community. This is precisely why I evangelize S|M so heavily. I know that any news junkies I send your way will make excellent discoveries both in content and community. Spot on!
It has my backing and I am now have more time to but down the sort of thoughts that come within an instance. They can be as valuable than the long drawn out essay written under certain pressure.
How could my own mind and intelligent PC add to the promotion of Social Meridian.
