Can't these idiots take a couple of months off at least?? I waited until Bush invaded Iraq before calling for his impeachment.

lol Dmillam...I agree. Even if these people don't like him, they should be willing to give him a chance. Maybe they're scared they'll like him enough to vote him in for a second term ;)

@Angie1234p, let's see what he can do first.

Facebook has its share of idiots, and groups calling for the impeachment of a president-elect are complete wingbats.

I don't understand how you can impeach someone who hasn't even been in office to commit a crime... you can't impeach someone because you don't agree with them, there has to be a real reason...

I am really freaking out over all the people in my life,i.e.,friends,family,co-workers who are so pissed off over Obama getting the Presidency. I do not mean mild reactions either but of hatred and disgust. When the election process is explained and showing that the citizens chose Obama is patriotic and quite legal all logic flies out the window. I was on the fence as a libertarian pulling for Bob Barr right up to the last few days before the election. After reading and sharing on social median I finally realized that Obama was the right choice. (I credit that "troublemaker" known as "The Puck" :) for making some very good points which swayed me in Obama's direction.) The election is over and it's every citizen's duty to support the President no matter what their political persuasion. People do have the right to seek impeachment for anyone but lets do wait and not use these powers based on petty bigotry and ignorance. Impeachment was designed as a last resort to keep a rogue politician from taking too much power or any other illegal action. Let's impeach bigotry ignorance, hate and fear instead of paranoia.

come on! it's an Internet social website.
It is NOT real life.

@Toydriver Social websites like Facebook are communities of real people, though gathered virtually I count it as "real life." In fact, it may be more representative since people tend to express their opinions more freely (and vehemently) online than they do in "real life."

The election season was ugly with hateful comments and attacks from supporters on both sides. I am saddened but not surprised that these attitudes continue post election. He has not even served a single day and already I have heard the negative reactions which are based on...what? Certainly not fact or performance but supposition. I hope that we can finally move forward as a country with mutual respect and channel that vigor into becoming part of the solution rather than simply spouting rhetoric from our keyboards.

@karenswim From your comments I can not tell if you are for or against freedom of speech or only if it agrees with you. What do you think about the tons of Impeach Bush pages and the hate and derision directed towards Mrs. Palin even after the election?
Maybe I am not young enough as I do not put anything online that I would not say in real life.

Karenswim,

@Toydriver It was not a personal attack on you, only an observation about online versus offline. I am not in favor of hatred on any side. You'll note that I commented on ugliness from BOTH sides. Do I believe in free speech - yes. However, I also believe in individual responsibility for the words we speak, or write. While I agree with you and take the same approach of being the same online and offline, statistics show that people are much more comfortable expressing viewpoints from behind a monitor. If you were offended by my comment, I apologize, it was an attempt at discussion not an attack.

@karenswim No I did not take it as a personal attack, sorry if it came across that way. I agree with you 100% that a lot of people are less restricted in what they say online. I just noticed also the words you and me use. You say "more comfortable" and I said "less restricted". Used to describe the same thing but the inflection of the words are quite different.
I really was not sure where you were coming from but now I am. Maybe my conservative skin was a little thin this morning :)

Impeach him for what? He hasn't even taken office yet. A president must be found guilty of violating the law before an impeachment can take place. RIDICULOUS. Some people just can't sleep since the night of November 4th.

@karenswim &
@Toydriver - does anybody know of a good site / community that is looking at this issue - the nature of communication without non-verbal cues? I find it fascinating and would agree with Karenswim that I too need those cues - the challenge is how to increase the value of the content without coming across like a 13 yr old harajuku girl -

anyway - sorry to hijack the thread - but it was very interesting watching the dialog between you two - ;-p

@andrewmccluskey Not quite what you were asking for but there is a netcast called Brainscience at http://docartemis.com/brainsciencepodcast/
that I can recommend and that you may like. It already has quite a few episodes out. Dr. Campbell is easy to listen to and has great guest interviews and book reviews concerning all things brain related.

@coolcatz Other than not liking Obama what crime is this guy committing? If he is considered a threat the feds will come down on him like a ton of bricks. If on the other hand he is expressing a view you disagree with then you can just not visit that page. It's not like he is camping in your front yard or something.

Toydriver,

@exModia Actually a SUSPECTED anyone that has not been charged or convicted of a crime should NOT have a page removed or have anything else happen him. And if you want to move on to a charged or convicted person, how does that equate to a person doing something you don't like but has committed NO crime or even been accused of a crime?
Using a phrase like "child molester" in this context is what is called setting up a straw man. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man
Easy to knock down to prove your point but not really something that should be done IMHO.

All of the hate and vitriol that was thrown about during the election has to go somewhere. Perhaps better into the Facebook groups where people can blow off steam.

If you go to the Facebook group and read their rationale it's because "Obama isn't going to honor his pledge to 'protect and uphold the Constitution'". Funny, where were these folks when Bush was using the Constitution to wipe his butt?

I would like to quote Earl Wallace from NC, because I cant say it any better:

"I am really freaking out over all the people ... who are so pissed off over Obama getting the Presidency. I do not mean mild reactions either but of hatred and disgust...

The election is over and it's every citizen's duty to support the President no matter what their political persuasion. People do have the right to seek impeachment for anyone but lets do wait and not use these powers based on petty bigotry and ignorance. Impeachment was designed as a last resort to keep a rogue politician from taking too much power or any other illegal action. Let's impeach bigotry ignorance, hate and fear instead of paranoia." (Earl Wallace) I trust Obama. I think that he will be the best President this country has ever seen.

I'm almost certain...99.63% that the "Impeach Obama" list is full of mainly skinheads, white supremacists, hard-core republicans, and just flat out ignorant people". I mean, the man is not even in office...this is almost like abortion (eliminating something before it has a chance). Lets not abort Barack Obama, I have a good feeling he is going to be one of the most well spoken presidents ever seen.

I'm happy that Barack Obama won the presidency (though I, myself, can't vote in the US) and from the results of the election, a lot of people are, too.

But also I am a little bit fearful for him and his family. There's still this undercurrent of racism and bigotry in a proportion of the American population, significant enough to pose a serious threat.

@Desormeaux Can you give me a reference for your 99.63% number? Were you aware that 89.245683% of all statistics are made up? As far as the rest of your post it looks like typical stereotyping to me. Have you compared the number of hate postings and sites concerning Sarah Palin. I am not talking about posts from people that just disagree with her but the thousands of disgusting and hateful posts and sites dedicated to her. Any you want to be outraged over one small group of disgruntled Americans. Me thinks you protest too much!

@lars_hilse Free speech is not yet a crime in America. My comment about My Space is that it's already being done. They have set the precedent for arbitrarily silencing someone. That doesn't mean that I agree with it. Personally, I think people like this guy on Facebook serve a useful function. They vividly paint a better picture of their side of the political spectrum than anyone on my side ever could.
