@fnerd I was watching over on Leo's site, but its great to be able to watch it over here! Great job @jasongoldberg & @leolaporte. I think a weekly show would go over big! The Socialmedian Show. How long is this going to be on? I still have to vote.
This is probably the absolute most interesting coverage of the election on the web. If you want to save the bandwidth or CPU cycles you can listen @ twit.am
ugh! reverse the mute process. mute socialmedian.com and use twit.tv as live so that you don't get dropped when you post a comment. Jason, is this how we're supposed to be using social median during live sessions?
@jasongoldberg Perhaps you should reverse the TWiT Live widget so that it doesn't play automatically, but is available for people to play by clicking..?
@jasongoldberg I see completely what you're saying. Perhaps the next time something like this happens, the comment system can be more of an AJAX system where a page refresh isn't needed, so that uninterrupted coverage can be achieved with the same level of discussion.
I really think this is more interesting to watch than network TV, which I don't even have on. Along with Social|Median, Twitter etc, getting all the information right here without broadcast TV.
@jasongoldberg I think this was a nice stab at live blogging but you and leo should have coordinated this ahead of time. the twit chat rooms as many, many participants but suffers from the firehose effect. I like the social median approach but agree with @Belthesar that some sort of AJAXian live update needs to be in place to prevent clippong. @Eyebee and @Hanaroda and me agree. This could really be a slick way to handle live events.
@jasongoldberg All in all, for a first run, while some features aren't as great as others, I have to give you and your IT guys awesome props as far as site responsiveness. The fact that SocialMedian is powerful enough to stand up to this kind of beatdown is amazing. Big events like this in the future will be looked forward to, and I can't wait to see how SocialMedian moves forward in the future.
Why exit polling?....................It is not fair and should NOT be allowed. It was just on the air moments ago..........2 different networks with 2 DIFFERENT exit poll results(total electoral votes).Stop the premature calling the winner!!!!!!!!!!!!! How the hell can a "winner" be named when only 2 percent of the precincts in some states have reported in.C'mon and cut the silliness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get rid of the electoral vote too.Why vote when the electoral college governs the outcome. It's awful and un-American...........................
I am normally a beer drinker, but tonight I am enjoying a Canadian Club Reserve on the rocks as I enjoy the coverage here. No intention of turning on network TV.
you did. you guys were way more entertaining and insightful than abc/nbc/cbs. internet and cable are winners. great to see you are one of the insurgents!
@jasongoldberg @Belthesar i think all-n-all this worked out well and would love to see live coverage of events like macworld go off like this. for a dry run, the servers were spectacular. i was trying to describe this to my wife and the only thing I could say was a live "digg killer". any other future casts to train/beta us on?
@jasongoldberg @leolaporte Really cool coverage. I liked all the interviews :-)). My first time to the live podcast too...Usually I listen to net@night. Thanks for covering
Even though I'm a tech guy, I really do enjoy seeing Social Media in general being used for things OTHER than tech! This was a great example of that. Much preferred this to regular TV.
@werickso49 agreed that exit-polls have a large margin for error as its based on sampling procedures leave about the frankness of exit-polster...but it always feeds the hunger out there until the final result is out...and there is nothing like un-American in it ... infact its human..agreed?
first time i saw mccain's running mate first thing i thought os was sally fields in her role as gigget. i was thinking what the hell is he thinking.if he kills over gigget will be running our country. man, we think we're in trouble now, just wait..
It was a great experience of live coverage.Seems that voters themselves are using technology as a way to ensure their vote is counted and their voices are heard.
I love Leo mostly for the quality production value I get in all his products, but his content is also informative and well directed. Nice job, guys, keep up the good work!
So how do the hard working folks keep the new liberal president and the largely democratic senate and house out of our pockets. The one thing that we cannot afford is 12% unemployment, 12% annual cost of living increases, tax rates doubling accross the board, etc that has been seen when liberalism runs rampant. So where does the small business man go when the mandates that our new president says he will pursue makes it impossible to stay afloat and we die, along with our employees joining the unemployment lines..... We can only hope that he is a smart as the "majority" thinks he is and he does not play the stupid card.
