Yesterday @therealbritney had 550 follows. @ socialmedian 24 Hrs later she has 3,618. If Tom Cruise or Will Smith twittered, How many would they have? She's definitely a trendsetter. But whoever thought it would be Britney Spears to bring twitter mainstream?

@jasongoldberg This is serious journalism here. There's a story brewing in here! I know its a hard pill to swallow but Britney Spears and her minions are taking Twitter mainstream. Sad but true.

With so many celebs starting to use Twitter now, does this mean that Twitter has officially gone mainstream, meaning it has moved beyond the early adopters?

@jonasdelosreyes I would argue that Twitter is in the early mainstream. It's not quite mainstream yet but it is building steam and the "celebrity" endorsements are helping.
