SOE: Future MMO Projects Also On Consoles

Summary

With the anticipated DC Universe Online MMO title on its way to the PC and PS3 platforms, Sony Online Entertainment looks to broaden its audience by making their titles available to a wide range of consoles. And now, thanks to their interview with MTV, all MMO projects under the company will arrive to not only PCs, but home consoles as well.


SOE president John Smedley said in the interview:


"For us, the opportunity that we see on the PS3, and potentially the PSP, is something that we can't pass up on. I would say that we would be one of the early adopters on [bringing MMOs to consoles], and we plan on becoming one of the dominant players in the MMO space on consoles. We see that marketing coming; we think it's there now, so we want to get a good market share there."


In expanding on SOE's interest on developing MMO titles for the PSP, the company said that they could introduce new PSP/PS3 gameplay mechanics with future projects. Aside from DC Universe Online, SOE is also bringing out other MMO titles such as The Agency and Free Realms.
