For those nuts out there like us that use just about every social website there is, the upcoming version 2 of Alert Thingy’s AIR desktop application may be just what you need. The current version of the service supports Twitter, Flickr and Friendfeed. But version 2, which will be released this month, adds support for Digg, YouTube, Facebook, Jaiku, Pownce and Tumblr as well. I used digsby, which pretty much took care of all my social needs, but it seems kind of buggy since the last release, at least on my system. Seems like Alert Thingy v2 and Miranda may be able to replace digsby, though.
@sushaantum have you installed other Adobe Air apps under Ubuntu? If not, you must first install adobe air for linux, then download the alert thingy installer package and run it locally. The auto-install will not work for this or any other Adobe Air app under Linux.
