: My roommate is amazing. He truly gets that connecting with someone isn't an exact science, it's a amorphous formula. All of these reasons are many factors which may contribute to the downfall of any potential relationship connection. For the past month or so I’ve had an idea percolating just beyond my grasp. I would occasionally get glimpses of what it was or what it wasn’t but never enough that I could get it down on paper – per se. I talked about the idea with Alexander van Elsas on Skype a week or so ago but as great as the conversation was it didn’ (Read More)
Mindful of the debates about socialmedian 'stealing' content :p I'll make some brief comments in this forum then a more considered posting on your blog.
There seems to be a theme of enfranchisement in the air, particularly apt given the appalling errors of judgment we're witnessing in the economies of the developed world.
In the 80s Vernor Vinge began a minor furor by introducing the concept of the 'technological singularity'. It returns as an interesting question now. The point is that we rush towards a singularity. Like a black hole, it sucks us in at an unprecedented rate, ignoring existing laws or understanding.
The 'ancients' had another word for it. They called it the 'Quickening'. A time when change accelerates at such a rate as to be almost completely unpredictable.
I agree completely with your post. Apart from the opinion that it won't happen in our lifetimes. There are forces that would stop it. But as we've seen in recent months, they are not the forces they (or, perhaps we) think they are. They are losing their grip in more ways than one. And then who is the authority?

I just stumbled upon a new tool that maps out the re-tweets occurring on Twitter. It’s called. simply, the ReTweet Mapper. How easy is it to launch a new web application these days? Easy enough that we see scads of new ones every day, in our tips inbox, on other blogs, raining out of the sky like cats and dogs. : Nice endorsement of some apps. I'd love to see the same article at 6 and 12 months. To last that long, an app really has to show 1) value and 2) an ability to adapt.

But by following the steps above, what you will find yourself with, in a very short space of time, is an amazing network that you can reach out to. People that you can help and that can help you. People that will provide you with a wealth of information and to whom you can pass along great information."
: @Hutch, I agree. The whole point about Twitter is to make connections within the community that you can share things that interest you and your network. In fact, I recently wrote a post about this very subject, "Stop Keeping Score", http://twurl.nl/yi2wq2

: For corporate social media, I agree with FaceBook, LinkedIn and perhaps MySpace (depending on your targeted demographic). I have advised some corporate clients to use Twitter depending on resources, objectives, etc but social bookmarking sites in my opinion are not a "must have" in CSM. In the Social Media space I think we have to be careful to develop strategies that fit our client, are resource efficient and align with their overall objectives.
: I definitely like StumbleUpon. My sites wouldn't have any traffic if it wasn't for StumbleUpon. However I doubt very many people ever come back, they just Stumble on.

: Im better at coping with online noise than real noise, to which I get easily overwhelmed with. I have seemigly super sensitive ears, I also pick up on something called micro facial expressions, expressions in people that are mostly so quick, not to be seen. To me they are just like regular expressions, so i can tell a lot more about someones true intentions or feelings.
Not always good.
Online noise I seem to be able to cope with because im incontrol of the situation. I can turn things off, close a browser, scan what I don't like. Or just move away.
It's how you manage it, online noise isn't overbearing, it only is if you let it.
So I can take more from this noise when Im feeling stronger to deal with it, or choose to turn it down.
