: @robdiana @nishith @gregbd we were blindsided by changes in their API on election day w/o any warning or notice which caused us a lot of scrambling and heartache.
: @jasongoldberg That is the main problem I have with the rate limiting. It is hard to be a platform when you do this, and they are not giving much advanced notice. They could take a look at what the wire services (AP, Reuters, etc) do when they have planned maintenance. Notices go out days before, and it uses a special message type. That should not be hard.

: I totally disagree. This is what fanboys and fangirls say: their idol can do no wrong.
The problem with this outlook is twofold. First, if if the web can help you do EVERYTHING you could ever want to do at the moment, then more or less everything you could want to do has been (or is being) done. If that's true for every single member of society, it means that humanity is no longer progressing. Second, if it's not meant to say that, but is instead meant to be read as "for ANYTHING I could ever want to do, I can find at least a little bit of information about it on the internet," it loses its importance. What separates the internet, say, from calling up a nearby university and chatting with a professor? Opening a newspaper? Going to a seminar?
Now, don't get me wrong, I *love* the internet. But seriously, if you can't think of a single thing that needs improvement, you're letting your love of the internet get in the way of rational thought about it.
