Do you believe Google pushes its own properties too much in their search results? If so, Google Minus Google is for you. It’s an unofficial clone of Google that looks just like the real thing... except, as the homepage disclaims, you’ll search Google “without getting results from Google sites such as Knol, (Read More)

IS Google Knol broken, or are they clearing out spam - some worrying looking error messages appearing at the moment on the site. (Read More)
: Your article has dropped out of the SERPs completely for me David. I can't find it in the first 10 pages at all. It was top 10 the last time I looked. Temporary freshness boost or did Google drop the ball?
I can get through to your Knol page now without an error so maybe the rankings will be restored soon. I'll be watching this with interest.
Ah yes I see it now. I was looking in the com index where it is sitting at position 25 for me. That's a big drop from the first time I looked at your SERPs after the comment you made at Sphinn..
: Google Knol is back and working fine now, but a little worrying.
Knol really needs a community channel - all I've found so far is an email address for help - the lack of community and channels for bugs / feedback is making Google look bad, and is going to discourage serious authors with a lot to offer.
: Knols not showing in search is an issue we cover in Knol Roll. My own experience of a Knol being Page 1 SERP on Google within 24 hours, with 12 million pages trailing it - but with another page not appearing at all. Knol is Beta, and there's some good info being shared at Knol Roll.

Over at Mashable, Mark has written an article pointing out that, only three days after Knol’s release, nefarious SEO types are experimenting with ways to spam Knol:The time for speculation as to when this will occur, though, is past. Some people noticed Knol articles are already sometimes ranking very well in Google results, even though Google promised Knol articles wouldn’t get any artificial boost. Until further evidence comes in I don’t think we’ve much reason to distrust Google’s statement, and yet, the site does get a major (Read More)

One of the big questions about Google Knol is about its impact on SEO. Specifically, how will knols rank in search engine results? Google has a long (though imperfect tradition) of ‘not being evil’. But, as many have pointed out, the Knol project puts them in both the content creation and delivery businesses. Th (Read More)
