In this video, I talk about a great way to enhance your self-hosted Wordpress blog if you use Twitter. The name of the Wordpress plugin is called TweetBacks. (http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2009/01/09/tweetbacks-plugin-for-wordpress/) TweetBacks searches Twitter for everyone who has linked back to your Wordpress blog posts (Read More)

Okay, so you’ve heard from someone that this social media and social networking stuff is great and you should get involved, and it’s really going to help you out. Maybe it will help you in the economic downturn. Maybe you have heard how you can use Twitter for business. But there’s a lot to it all. Where would you start? W (Read More)

As we reported yesterday, Shaquille O’Neal is on Twitter, and it’s definitely the real Shaq. But two days ago as a few people started discovering The Big Aristotle’s account, not everyone was convinced. Bryant Blount (aka lord_b) was one of the doubters after first hearing about @THE_REAL_SHAQ on a sports website. The ba (Read More)
: A bit later, he added “still 30% skeptical about shaq tweeting…will continue to investigate and report back with any new findings.” Low and behold, Shaq responded at 1am (the guy doesn’t appear to sleep based on his tweets), “LORD B, DNT B SKEPTICAL, ITS ME GIMME A NUMBER I WILL CALL U.”

The always quotable basketball star Shaquille O’Neal (see: Kobe, How’s My #$! Taste?) is on Twitter, and it is without a doubt, the real Shaq. Twitter welcomed the Phoenix Suns star to the service in a blog post, and The New York Times has a profile of how the giant found his way onto the microblogging tool. Apparently, a (Read More)

President elect Obama will bring the President's weekly "fireside chat" into the 21st century by offering it not just on the radio, but in video on YouTube as well. It's as if the new President really cares whether the next generation has a connection to his regular work. That's where the people are - on YouTube, on MySpa (Read More)
: @cabradio I wasn't saying this could replace the news for political news. As far as I am concerned both is good. I like the idea of hearing it directly from the guys mouth. if its from him its more likely to be true then news. I don't know about you but I look at a bunch of news sources and don't take everything at face value before i consider it good news.
: @RyanCorcoran What you failed to recognize is that the President has been doing WEEKLY radio addresses for decades now. Reagan started doing them weekly. GW Bush made them available via RSS off the www.whitehouse.gov/news/radio website. Direct Info from the President HAS BEEN available. You just think it's Obama's idea. Video is Radio with pictures. He isn't doing ANYTHING new or innovative with this "video channel". It is just a progression with the technology that is now READILY available/accessible by most Americans (i.e. even those that don't have internet probably know someone who does, or can access via the Library for free).

Google used to be a great tool for researchers, but then it got swarmed by billions of links from companies who are trying to sell you something. Clearing your way through all this information can be (and often is) counterproductive. Enter RefSeek, an “academic” search engine, that launched today in beta. Simple (Read More)
: gave it a spin. it does seem to do what it was designed for. I work in the biomedical research field and I deal with mostly scientific journal article searches. I use Google Scholar for that over Pubmed, primarily because Google Scholar indexes the text inside the pdfs whereas Pubmed relies on assigned keywords and title searches.
One nice thing about it is if I do a search for a certain field of research, the websites of related laboratories come up.

: @lars_hilse Free speech is not yet a crime in America. My comment about My Space is that it's already being done. They have set the precedent for arbitrarily silencing someone. That doesn't mean that I agree with it. Personally, I think people like this guy on Facebook serve a useful function. They vividly paint a better picture of their side of the political spectrum than anyone on my side ever could.

Mars Phoenix, NASA's immensely successful robotic lander, is on her its last legs. Two days ago, with winter already threatening to coat the lander in carbon dioxide, an ill-timed dust storm sent Mars Phoenix into hibernation as the solar energy hitting the bot's photovoltaic panels fell too far. NASA will make one last tr (Read More)

October 31, 2008 – This is a question that you have probably not asked yourself. According to the Constitution, to serve in the US Senate - which he currently does - requires US citizenship. But there is now a small but growing group of people who are actually questioning Obama’s citizenship credentials in the federal court (Read More)

: @bwana Ummm... seal and signature are on the BACK SIDE of the birth certificate original, and so therefore don't appear in a scanned version as provided. Actual certificate IS signed and sealed per confirmation of the officials in Hawaii. Don't spread misinformation.
: @calgaryguru You just confirmed what I said. Do you know how easy it is to get a copy of a birth certificate for purposes like this? I can't get on a cruise ship without an _original_ copy of my birth certificate and the Obama camp provides a photocopy for proof of citizenship? And answer me this, why FREEZE the records until AFTER the election? Come on man. All I'm saying is, if it's not an issue, just provide valid proof and everyone will shut up. If you leave room for speculation, there will be speculation.
