Apple and their iPhone App Store have been in the news quite a bit lately - and not in a good way. A series of high-profile application rejections and generally poor decision-making regarding their application approval process have led many iPhone advocates to question the cult of Apple - and their vague, preposterous stand (Read More)

: This will all work itself out. Apple and the iPhone App Stores are still a bit draconian in their methods. They've always been that way though. Overall, I think the upcoming competition from Blackberry and Nokia can only be good for us consumers as prices come down and more bells and whistles are added and the apps become simpler and more user friendly. “I read the news today, oh boy” is the opening line from the Beatles song “A Day in the Life”. But yesterday it went well beyond “oh boy” when I was left dazed and confused by the stupidity in the news.I mean there are some days when I read articles in the news and I just sit shaking my head mainly due to all the negativity (Read More)

I remember that song, and if you listen to it you find the line about the story teller , who "... just had to laugh. He didn't notice that the lights had changed." is no less sick and twisted.
I use this bit of Beatles trivia to illustrate a point you eluded at in this post: competing companies play on the common consumer's tendency to "believe what they see" (or hear). The point is, if it's coming from a "reputable source", then it must be true.
Chalk up one more point for President Ronald Reagan who coined the phrase, "Trust, but verify".
: Hey Jim, like you when I read the newspaper or watch the news I too am dumbfounded by really what the 'newsies' pertain to be news.
Maybe lucky for you with the US's strict guidelines for things your water is good, but for those of us due to Council or Government ineffiences bottled water is definitely a go and we do become sceptical of so called improvements.

Be on the lookout, people - there's a new Twitter worm called Twittercut tearing its way through the microblogging platform at an alarming rate. If you've seen some of the people you follow tweeting "OMG I just got over 1000 followers today from http://twittercut.com", they've got the Twittercut worm. (Read More)

: Hi 5 folks - I don't understand this how can you get a 1000 followers a day - I thought 50 was the max Twitter allowed - any ways your right to Get the word out! All you're going to gain from Twittercut is a headache and the scorn of your peers!
: I'm not even sure what I would do if I got 1,000 followers in a day. It'd be difficult to try to get to know all of them at once. Slow, steady growth seems the best way to go.
: Yes, Twitter has totally taken off. I really like the social aspect of it, and am working on my following as well. But, really 1,000 followers a day in this manner probably wouldn't do you a whole lot of good from a business stand point. Sure, every body likes a good following but it's targeted followers that are important. Not only that, many of these followers per day would probably be from just "spam" Twitter accounts. Great post..

: The internet gives us the power to connect with virtually anyone, and more importantly, to connect with people that can teach us, mentor us, and empower us to be great at whatever we want. It is an opportunity like no other in my opinion.
I really like your point about looking for people that are on fire about what they do and supporting them. Although it may take a few years, supporting a network of enthusiastic, positive people could lead to all sorts of incredible openings down the track.
: This is a great article and I agree with the people you hang around will have a great influence on where you go in life. If you are not happy where you are at, change the situation so you are happy.

No, I’m not being sexist or stupid (although I probably have a little of both in me). I’m being totally realistic and strategic and you’d be wise to read on. : It was funny to see 'needing a hubby' from a guy. :-) Your article is spot on, though, because just getting a name on your list doesn't mean much of anything. This is even more true in the age of social media where the buyer has all the power. Consumers have gotten much more savvy and are demanding high quality products and excellent customer service. All honest biz owners should applaud this development.

: This is a great article Charles. I really love the point about network with prospects rather than networking to get prospects. After all if you put out entertaining, enlightening, or educational content prospects will find their way back to our site where we can network till our heart's content.

: This is great advice! Time is what we have a finite quantity of. We can always make more of nearly everything...but not time. So you have it right...the better you are at managing your life, the better your life will be. Thanks!
: You are so right, time is money even if it is ours. My husband is always saying this. This is one area where the 'green' in me shines - I'm organised, I have piles of paper where I can see them and action them, if I put them away, they are out of sight out of mind. I operate with 'to do' lists and these work well too. We can always improve on this though, thanks for sharing more tips and ideas.
