: It has always been part of the 'human condition' to seek knowledge and convert it into tangible benefits - that is what makes us great learners, thinkers and tool users.
Though the business motives of 'Google' are far more practical 'advertising revenue' - the side effect of pulling the global knowledge base strings ever tighter and serving the right info at the right time to us as consumers has got to be a great thing.
It has also been part of this condition to seek to grow community with those who like us share similar ideals, visions and behaviours.
For that reason - surely google, wikipedia and the tide of social media start-ups have a lot in common in that by tapping into these basic human needs they are leveraging benefits that underly common desires all of us have - satisfying our deepest emotional cravings.
