Last year, my husband fell head over heels in love with Facebook (a social networking site) and tried to evangelize everyone else to join in as well. The year before that, he was obssessed with Twitter, a microblogging site. I banned him from repeating twitter every five minutes around the house, unless he wanted to sleep o (Read More)

Canadian users again face an increase in the cost of blank CDs, as the Copyright Board has increased levies on them by 38%. The raise was authorized in response to rises in music compression, and increases in songwriter royalties. With this rise, the Copyright Board is simply ignoring all technological advances since 1999, (Read More)

: Boo! Another shining example of the Copyright Board having no idea what it's doing... Who get's theses subsidies? is it spread by record sales or does every Canadian artist get an equal chunk of money? Are they sending cash to foreign artists too?
: @dhumber Canadian only. Corporate artists only. They make a fine example by pointing out how much an up-and-comer technically pays towards bigger artists making demo disks and gets none of it. Any modern artist distributing solely on physical media is limited by physical rules. More and more, I see that digital distribution is becoming common. Most listeners/fans will just download and put it strait to an iPod, no royalties apply.

: Well, I like tje article and I am here for peaceful networking. I view yesterday on LI a pps by a dutchman that I liked particularly one of his slides:
To own is about building your ego. Sharing is about building a Network. To share means that what is good for you, can be good for others. Why keep it to yourself! The message is important. The messenger should not be a messiah

Whereas many older portable Macs would sleep almost as soon as you closed the cover, and would wake up nearly as quickly, the most recent batch of portable Macs introduced a new feature called hibernate. This mode saves the contents of RAM to your hard drive. This is useful because if you totally lose power, you'll be able (Read More)

I’ve been using an Android G1 phone for more than a month now on a daily basis, but I still haven’t given up my iPhone. The more I use them both, the more that I realize my iPhone is a Mac and my Android is a PC. That is not necessarily a bad thing—except for when my Android crashes (which is a lot). Okay, it (Read More)

One of the common complaints about the Apple iPhone - beyond the inability to cut and paste - has been that such a powerful communications platform is sorely lacking in one particular respect: instant messaging. But Apple's shortcoming in terms of a universal IM client is the iPhone development community's gain.
