Techmeme and "Blogging 2.0"
Jun 10, 2008

A VC Man I hate the term "blogging 2.0". It's just that blogging is evolving and we need something to call it. Anyway, the term blogging 2.0 refers to the disaggregated posting and microblogging trend that twitter spawned and friendfeed and others have fueled. When you've got something to say, you say it wherever you happen to b (Read More)

I Like Plurk Better Than Twitter, But Should I Even Bother?
Jun 02, 2008

Mashable! The thing about Twitter is that it’s not the most popular microblogging/web IM/whatever service out there because it’s better than others. It’s the most popular because it’s more…twittery than other services. You can’t really put a finger on its magic: Pownce has more features and it look (Read More)

: It only pays to use Plurk if twitter folks start to move over. Also, based on how I currently understand Plurk, they are more focused on your "close friends" than subscribing and interacting with people of interest. Plurk's UI/UX (currently) poorly supports mass amounts of close peeps.

A brand is a promise.
May 17, 2008

Colin Walker I was driving home along the motorway last night and passed a lorry bearing the tag line “a brand is a promise” - it got me thinking.A brand is a promiseIt’s like a line from an inspirational speaker at a dodgy weekend, residential seminar but it does have a very valid point.Blogging is a strange beast, th (Read More)

Social Networking - Ignoring Accessibility | Fog of Eternity | Website design and discussion
May 15, 2008

Submitted by Colinwalker: Social networking is the big thing, whether it’s entertainment or professionally focused. But it’s a big thing that falls into the same trap as many services on the internet. It marginalises or blocks out people who require greater accessibility on the internet, or special consideration from web designers. (Read More)

Running with the pack?
May 15, 2008

Colin Walker Yesterday, Michael Martine of Remarkablogger posted the concept of using a ‘blog pack‘ to enhance the promotion of your site. A blog pack is a group of bloggers who set up an ‘alliance’ to cross promote each others sites by way of comments, links, stumbles, etc. in order to:- Get established- Build p (Read More)

Twitter is a facilitator.
May 12, 2008

Colin Walker I had already planned to write a post about Twitter acting as a facilitator and the unfortunate events in China today re-affirmed what I was going to say.Back in February I posted:“Twitter is more the facilitator of communication rather than the end channel so it is probably better to take deeper discussion and analys (Read More)

Colinwalker,

: Mainstream media is starting to see the benefit of social media and Twiiter in particular but, even though news can break very quickly, it is unlikely that Twitter will take over as a means of discovering the news.

I Venus,

: Twitter is not intended as a public discussion forum but is a way of bringing people together, breaking news and spreading the word so that the conversation can be shared and then discussed in the most appropriate place - FriendFeed comments or blogs, for example.
