Since launching ME Consulting last month, I’ve been reading and talking a lot about social media, and the impact it’s having on how businesses communicate, market and sell their products and services. There are a few things that have been particularly striking. One is there’s a tremendous amount of talk and enthusiasm about (Read More)
: Good post, it's about quality not quantity. Like the email promoting something that would get me thousands of new Twitter followers, yeah right that's a good idea.

Anthony Ha at Venturebeat reported on Friday that Socialmedian has left the beta stage (whatever that means). Ha says it's an important milestone for the company. Ha went on to note, "I'm not seeing anything that will tempt me away from social messaging/sharing sites like Twitter and FriendFeed, or the sharing option within (Read More)

: @michaelfidler Indeed! I'm sure there's a disconnect here! But, I simply cannot parse his flamepost, his problem, his defensiveness, and his lazy generalizing. I won't have it! And, I'm sure I'll forget all about it in a few weeks.
: @jasongoldberg We got your back ... without prompting! I agree with @reechard, @centernetworks still refuses to reply when he was asked directly by me to explain despite complaining that no one asked! Seems that it must only be flamebait. It is unfortunate because I am turned away from CN now.

I’ll bet you’re smart.I mean, you’re likely college educated. Maybe even grad school. You can probably remember some killer instances where you nailed some assignment. That clever C++ hack. The time you delivered an insightful analysis of Vonnegut. Navigated your way through a thorny financial analysis. Came up with an eleg (Read More)

The word "magazine" is derived from the Arabic word "makhazin," meaning storehouse. Since Daniel Defoe published the world's first English magazine back in 1704, millions of magazines catering to nearly every imaginable taste have been created and consumed, passed from person to person in cafes, barber shops, libraries, an (Read More)

Last month I wrote about why Netbooks, which are small, low end computers that are selling like crazy, just aren’t good enough for most users.Small screens, small keyboards and underpowered hardware make for a less than stellar Netbook user experience. But Netvibes Founder Tariq Krim, who left Netvibes on a full time (Read More)

During the Web 2.0 craze in Silicon Valley, the rallying cry was “it’s different this time.” But recent comments from the CEO of Twitter highlighted that things aren't that different this time around from dot-com bust 1.0, writes Therese Poletti.

: Not sure I completely agree with Therese especially since archiving and streaming text is not that expensive, and I believe they're been lowering their cost basis by shutting down sms txt messaging in some countries. The elegance of twitter is its simplicity. In our web 2.0, 3,0 and soon to be 4.0 world, a lot of products seem too complicated with all its features. Sometimes as a twitter user, you get frustrated with the 140 char limit but it makes you think and value the "real estate" available for a tweet. Anyway, I'm a big fan and hope they ultimately succeed and change the world, They already are starting too as many ppl now rely on twitter for news.

Twitter is my news stream. I use it to get the best news and information from people that I trust and admire. I barely even use my Google Reader anymore because I carry my Twitter with me everywhere I go. (Read More)
: I've been looking at Twitter as a new source. There are some breaking news people I follow and I get info pretty quick. I've also been playing with Tweetdeck. It's really great, but doesn't work 100% for what I need. I'm going to keep experimenting with Twitter as a news source. I don't think I'll ever abandon Google Reader, though.
