: Is the title misleading? I guess so. Shouldn't be clear, stating that Obama freezes salaries of over a 100 white house employees who are making over $100k per year
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama announced on his first day in office Wednesday that he is freezing the pay of the about a hundred White House employees who make over $100,000 a year.
The freeze would hold salaries at their current levels. It is part of a presidential memorandum being issued Wednesday when Obama attends a swearing-in for staff at the White House.
In a statement, Obama said "families are tightening their belts, and so should Washington."
Aides making above $100,00 include the high-profile jobs of White House chief of staff, national security adviser and press secretary. Other aides who work in relative anonymity also fit into that cap, if Obama follows a structure similar to the one George W. Bush set up.
"They deserve a government that truly is of, and by, the American people," Obama said.

These so called "social media" things are different only in technology from normal, everyday communication, and are "social activities" like running with friends and watching the latest TV Show with your family. So yes, there isn't, and has never been, such a thing as a distinct "social media".
: All of language has the potential to be inadequate. I agree the terms will change, but right now I don't agree that we've reached the 'tipping point' where old and new media alike are always social. I see the beginnings but it seems that there are still lines drawn and complete convergence still on the horizon.
I think defining terms is critical for understanding, and common understanding is critical for dialogue. My hopes, though, are that none of our conclusions about the current state of media would hinder open and continued dialogue as it all continues to change. Especially dialogue about Social Media.
