There are benefits to getting more Twitter followers, so with that thought in mind, I’m going to tell you about the things that will help you build your own Twitter following. I’ll tell you about some things that seem to work and some that don’t work: short term or long term.Let me be perfectly clear: I am not writing this (Read More)
: This is a good article because it is not the typical approach to how to use Twitter and get followers. This article highlights good and not so good behaviors that will impact whether people decide to follow you or not.
: The way I see it, you need to be niched on Twitter, kinda. To make a name for yourself. Especially when there are no "rooms" in Twitter (?). If you use Twitter for daily life snippets and lifestreaming, I don't know if aiming for more followers would matter at all. And I can't see why my tweets would be of interest to someone else either :)

: @cabradio I'd pay $5/month for exactly what I do now with Twitter. The only problem is that someone else would come along and offer the same for free. Differentiated premium twitter services will be the key.
: @jasongoldberg I read a Wired article last month that talked about Urbanbaby.com. They had a very active community but when they were bought out by CBS, they made changes to the website that didn't sit well with the users.
In response, a few former active members got together and built a website that more closely resembled the former site, by working on evenings and weekends. Eventually the new website had eclipsed the CBS entity.
I guess the lesson here is that it is getting easier for people to develop their own networks. If they annoy the users they can always set up their own network.
Would I pay for Twitter, definetly. Would it stunt new user growth? Probably.
Maybe there will be a new competitor that will scoop up those that wouldn't want to pay. Then again, that might help maintain the great quality of users on Twitter. currently has

President elect Obama will bring the President's weekly "fireside chat" into the 21st century by offering it not just on the radio, but in video on YouTube as well. : @cabradio I wasn't saying this could replace the news for political news. As far as I am concerned both is good. I like the idea of hearing it directly from the guys mouth. if its from him its more likely to be true then news. I don't know about you but I look at a bunch of news sources and don't take everything at face value before i consider it good news.
: @RyanCorcoran What you failed to recognize is that the President has been doing WEEKLY radio addresses for decades now. Reagan started doing them weekly. GW Bush made them available via RSS off the www.whitehouse.gov/news/radio website. Direct Info from the President HAS BEEN available. You just think it's Obama's idea. Video is Radio with pictures. He isn't doing ANYTHING new or innovative with this "video channel". It is just a progression with the technology that is now READILY available/accessible by most Americans (i.e. even those that don't have internet probably know someone who does, or can access via the Library for free).

News outlets and independent truth squads seem to agree that the McCain camp's distortions on Barack Obama have gone too far. The Sept. 11 memorial bells chimed with beautiful clarity Thursday, from Shanksville, Pa., to ground zero and be (Read More)
: snip.."The truth-tellers in this campaign have not throttled McCain alone. PolitiFact, for example, has slapped Obama more than once, including for his false claim that McCain promised to continue the war in Iraq for 100 years. (McCain said the United States might need to keep military bases there for that long.)"
: ...just a warmup for the smarmy untruth the McCain camp uncorked next --that Obama voted in his home state of Illinois to foist detailed sex education on kindergartners....Often in the past, journalists who were confronted with such a lie opted for on-the-one-hand/on-the-other-hand reporting. That allows one politician to launch a fabrication, while another tries, often in vain, to swat it down. McClatchy Co. newspapers (publisher of the Sacramento Bee and other papers) and reporter Margaret Talev admirably cast aside the wishy-washy approach. Looking at Obama and the Illinois sex-ed legislation, Talev concluded that McCain's charge was "deliberately misleading." "As a state senator in Illinois, Obama did vote for, but was not a sponsor of, legislation dealing with sex ed for grades K-12," the reporter explained. "But the legislation allowed local school boards to teach 'age-appropriate' sex education, not comprehensive lessons to kindergartners." That probably would have meant, at most, classes to help the youngest children fend off sexual predators.

: Palin said she put it on Ebay, which she did. There was no implication on her part that it sold on Ebay. I most certainly didn't interpret it that way. This is a NON STORY.
: And that should over shadow the fact that Palin has actually done something for the people of her State? The fact that she is the real deal, and doesn't just talk about cutting wasteful spending, but actually does something about it? You're going to get hung up on a bad choice of words? So what if McCain wasn't briefed properly over this tiny issue in the grand scheme of things. She sold the plane...she did put it on Ebay. There was a misunderstanding over whether it actually sold on Ebay. The point is she saved the tax payers maintenance and fuel costs from the purchase made by the previous corrupt Governor! Keep things in perspective. And I didn't hear McCain say that in his acceptance speech (I'm listening to it again now)...please tell me exactly where he said it.
