: Facebook will continue with this nasty experimentation -- it is probing what it can get away with in pursuit of some way to actually make money.

It is funny.

All of that personal info is an advertisers gold mine, but the facebook user base, originating from academia (ever more professorial than undergraduate these days, hardly an exaggeration) and other professions that eschew the pursuit of profit and look snobbishly down their nose at MySpace for being "corporate" (among other things).

I've said it many times. It is going to be interesting to see the way facebook plays out.

(I just signed on here and was assigned Sarah Palin's visage!? Guess I'll keep for a while as I explore the site.

: try explaining this stuff to my wife. Facebook, yes - just about.. LinkedIN - anything else - nada, no go, not a hope... we were chatting about it for hours last night. Her conclusion its industry related and us (the tech crowd) find it more useful that here (PhD, Academia... crowd).
