Have you ever heard of Twitter tags? No, I’m not speaking of those search functionaries known as #hashtags, I’m talking about regular tags that are a staple of bookmarks and blog posts. The ability to sort and share are fundamental to how we interact with digital information. However, Twitter seems to have ignored the power (Read More)
: I had to Google "folksonomy" but yes I think the social aspect of categorization could be a major feature. Thanks for introducing me to a new word. :)

This is a guest post from esteemed presenter and expert Olivia Mitchell.People used to whisper to each other or pass hand-scribbled notes during presentations. Now these notes are going digital on Twitter or via conference-provided chat rooms.Up until now, this back-channel has been mainly confined to the Internet industry (Read More)

Dave Winer talks about why FriendFeed hasn’t gotten super popular yet. He thinks there’s space for a new service between Twitter and FriendFeed. Everyone knows I’m FriendFeed’s #1 customer, but I’ve been studying the two services for a while and have found 10 reasons why FriendFeed isn’t (Read More)
: I find friendfeed one of the easiest to use, and I glean much information from it. It's easy to filter out the signal you want, from the noise you don't.

Let’s be clear, there are no rules for who you need to follow on twitter. You follow who you want, block you want, and talk to whomever you want to talk to. I’ve had several people tell me that ... (Read More)
: Segues nicely with an article I wrote recently, spelling out my Twitter rules, which I've added to my Twitter profile. Jacob & I are in total agreement; you can't participate in every conversation and you're just being disingenuous if you follow everyone else back automatically...
: @Thechannelc I only respond to a DM if I need to. I will reply to a direct question even if only to say I don't know, as I like to be polite. However, I only follow a very few people by SMS, so I don't see tweets when I'm away from my computer, unless I scroll back thru them, and I don't usually have time. I DO see DMs though, as Tweetdeck puts them in a separate column.
: If someone was Guy Kawasaki I wouldn't expect a reply but here's what's interesting, Guy replies! If there's someone who deserves the badges he's giving out, it's Guy himself. He kicks ass.
I know we don't have to follow everyone back but I do it anyways and I'll DM new followers. No answer in 1 week = goodbye. Come now, atleast say "hi".

Your boss thinks you “play on Facebook,” all day. Your co-worker who is jonesing for the same promotion is monitoring the time of day you post to Twitter. The guy from across the hall sips black coffee through his brown teeth and laughs, “Met the man of your dreams on Ebay, yet?”What a nimrod.Take it from someone who knows. (Read More)

“Why do bloggers put so much focus upon growing RSS subscriber numbers to their blog if most of them only ever read your content in Feed Readers and don’t visit your blog?”This question (or variations of it) hit my inbox 3 times in 24 hours from different people so I thought I’d tackle it as a post i (Read More)
: I'll probably post a similar comment also actually on the blog.
This article does a good job of pointing out why RSS subscribers are good. Especially in point 4. There are a couple of types of bloggers at work here. Bloggers who hope to make money from their blog 9generally through advertising) and those who just want to push conetnet and influence).
You can actually be bot of these at the same time.
Anyway, I prefer to push people to subscribe to my blogs on RSS. I have a few ads I've never made money off of but I'm also not interested in making money off of my blog. I'd rather have every visitor continue to receive my content through my RSS feeds than try to coax them into returning for a later visit.

: I've had at least 50 Performance Reviews. That is if you count 25 years worth at 2 times a year.
What did it promote? NADA, Nothing. This article hits the nail on the head. The company preached teamwork, while we had a place to include group projects all that mattered is what "I" did. This was with a top 10 Fortune 500 company. Rather, WAS a top 10 Fortune 500 company......duh
Geekdad
Barack Obama, soon to become the 44th President of the U.S.A., is many things: a statesman, a lawyer, an author, and an orator. It is also our opinion at GeekDad that, even without knowing him personally, we have enough evidence to demonstrate that he is a big geek. Even if you didn't want him to win the election, you (Read More)

: @shaynorulz @HappaHaoli @brilliantjeni Delete only helps a little. Even when you delete a tweet, it still can be searched from search.twitter.com. Also, there is no way to recall the tweet that has been delivered to all those 3rd party apps that your followers might be using.
: @Nishith - yeah too bad search.twitter.com is CURRENTLY DISABLED, don't integrate your twits into the various social aggregations. creating social silo's comprised of different audiences manages the impact of unrelated/unnecessary twits/material to a minimum - seems the olds like to turn technical glitches into an ethics debate
